MBCI Grade 8 Band & Choir Comes to Linwood!

Students and staff at Linwood were given a special treat today as MBCI's Grade 8 band and choir performed for us! Under the direction of Mr. G. Cooper (Toby Cooper's dad), the band surprised us with pieces from Star Wars, Indiana Jones along with other favourites. The choir beautifully demonstrated what our future choristers could be a part of if they continue to sing!

Linwood would like to thank Mr. Cooper for arranging for his band and choir to come and entertain us today! We really enjoyed the performance!

Room 6 Presents Earth Day Helper

Room 6 performed the song Earth Day Helper at the Linwood Earth Day assembly. We had to practice the song a lot and we tried to sing our best! We put a lot of effort into learning the song and actions. Room 6 invites you to listen and we are sure you will agree that we did a great job! Enjoy!!

Room 8 Presents "Spring Flowers"

Room 8 created their own song called Spring Flowers in music class today! They experimented with the rainstick to create the sound of rain and they created their own middle section using spring flower names which they used to improvise on the glockenspeils. We are hoping that their beautiful music will encourage the May flowers to bloom!

St. James Collegiate Band Comes to Linwood!

On Monday, April 14th students at Linwood were wowed with a special musical presentation by the St. James Collegiate Concert and Jazz Bands under the direction of Mr. F. Johnson. Included in the band were several alumni from Linwood School! The band played many songs that were familiar to our students, much to the delight of all!

Thank you, St. James Collegiate band for stopping at Linwood School during your multi-school tour!

Linwood Choir performs at Music Celebration!

The Linwood Choir met together on Monday evening to take part in the St. James Assiniboia Music Celebration at Sturgeon Creek United Church. Our choir worked very hard to prepare for this event and they sang beautifully! Our adjudicator, Mrs. Hildebrand, had many wonderful comments and gave the choir some great tips to improve for our Winnipeg Music Festival performance coming up on March 4th.

Thank you to all parents and caregivers for bringing your child/ren to this special event!

Linwood Discovers at WSO Concert Musical Discoveries!

On Thursday, February 6th, both morning and afternoon Kindergarten students, as well as Rooms 8, 6, 4, & 1 boarded two school buses and headed to the Centennial Concert Hall for a special education concert
titled Musical Discoveries!

It was a very exciting one-hour concert as 2,200 students helped Manituba (the WSO's mascot) solve game-show questions all about the orchestra! The students were eager to help Manituba as they were happy to share their knowledge of the orchestra with Manituba!

During our reflection time after the concert, here are some of the most exciting things that our students learned:

Avirey said "I learned songs and lots of sounds (of the orchestra)".

Walker said "The most exciting thing I learned was (learning about) all the instruments."

Frances learned "To be my best at the WSO!"

Oliver said "I learned about listening."

Jaydon said "I loved the music!"

Thank you again to Linwood's Parent Council, Parent Volunteers, and Classroom Teachers for helping this concert experience a success!
